Sunday 8 July 2012

The month that was.

Well this has been a bit of a busy few weeks.  First I had 4 pre wedding shoots to do, 2 of the three were in very bad weather and one I have done in the studio, all were great fun and a great way for us to get to know our client as well as them to get to know us.
On top of that I have been offered a 1 year contract as a supervisor at a nearby military training area, which will keep a steady flow of cash in while we continue to build up our client base.
All of this however has brought me low this weekend, very tired eyes and a bad head.  But the show must go on as they say.
today is sunday and I have decided to take the day off from picture editing, even though I am itching to get started on the father and baby shoot I did yesterday.
I am typing this while I listen to the tennis and watch my cat play in the garden.  I would however be fibbing if I claimed I have done no editing today, I have, about an hour this morning, but no more than that.
Our job as a photographer is demanding.  It required a great deal of concentration and eye work, and some shoots have me sweating buckets as I run about keeping up with events as they unfold during the shoot, especially wedding shoots.  I don't like controlling the day and maintain a very photo journalistic approach throughout the day.
But we love what we do.  That is however no excuse for doing the work for nothing and making a sensible profit is what make our chosen job a profession and not just a fun hobby.
Well I am now going to settle down to a quiet evening and get ready to take on the new week with the same vigour as the last.
